Minding My Own Beeswax
Hi, I'm Emily, the founder of Cascade Meadow Beeswax. I grew up on my family's apiary nestled amongst the foothills of the Cascade Mountains in Oregon. For many years I worked with my family's bees, tending to their needs, transporting them to grower's farms, extracting honey and making a few candles here and there. In December of 2022 I decided that instead of making a few candles here and there, I wanted to set off in the adventure of starting my own beeswax candle business!
I invite you to explore my collection of beeswax candles, each one reflecting the natural beauty and warmth of beeswax. Whether you seek the perfect centerpiece for a special occasion, a thoughtful gift, or simply a touch of tranquility in your home, these candles are designed to evoke a sense of calm and connection. Thank you for visiting my site!
Beeswax Facts
- Beeswax is the purest wax form, burning the cleanest, brightest and longest of any other wax used in candle making.
- Burning pure beeswax releasing negative ions, which purifies the air.
- Pure beeswax develops a white film called "bloom". It is the natural oils within the wax coming to the surface. Bloom is a sign of purity as only pure beeswax will bloom. Gentle warmth from a hair dryer or rubbing with a soft cloth will restore the golden shine and release more lovely natural aroma.
- Honeybees produce wax scales from glands on their abdomen which is used to build honeycomb cells to store honey, pollen and raise brood.
- One pound of wax contains approximately 800,000 scales.
- Honeybees consume 10 pounds of honey produced from millions of blossoms in order to make one pound of beeswax. Cherish and enjoy this natural gift!
